One of our favorite Hoyas, Hoya obovata has charming round leaves and looks amazing as a hanging plant (see last photo of Danae's older, long plant for inspiration). Like other Hoyas, Hoya obovata produces blooms that appear as though they are made of porcelain or sugar- white in color with dark fuchsia centers that form in an umbrella-like arrangement in the case of Hoya obovata.
Hoya obovata CARE:
Bright indirect light. Can adapt to medium light, though blooms will not develop in medium light.
Place in pot with drainage. Allow soil to dry 3/4 to all the way down between waterings. If leaves begin to pucker, it’s time to water.
This species will climb if given something to grab onto, though we're a fan of letting it trail and using it as a hanging plant. To encourage blooms, allow to become slightly root bound.
Once blooms are spent, DO NOT cut off the point they emerge from (called a 'peduncle'), as Hoyas re-bloom from the same peduncle year after year.
