With longer and broader leaves than carnosa, the less common Hoya pubicalyx is a quick climber- often with splashy leaves- that grows faster than many other Hoyas as well! Like all Hoyas, Hoya pubicalyx produces blooms that appear as though they are made of porcelain, and are deep burgundy in color.*Photo of 6" hanging plant is for reference only- actual plant may vary.
Hoya pubicalyx CARE:
Place in pot with drainage. Allow to dry out between waterings. When leaves begin to pucker, it’s time to water.
Bright indirect light. Can adapt to medium light, though blooms will not develop in medium light.
This species will climb if given something to grab onto (including its own vines or plant hanger- ha ha). To encourage blooms, allow to become slightly root bound.
Once blooms are spent, DO NOT cut off the point they emerge from (called a 'peduncle'), as Hoyas re-bloom from the same peduncle year after year.
