One of the plants referred to as a 'Prayer Plant', Maranta leuconeura 'Kerchoveana' features light green leaves with patches of dark green. Prayer plants fold up at night, in a way that can resemble "praying hands" (hence the name). These plants do occasionally put out modest flowers.

Maranta leuconeura 'Kerchoveana' CARE:

Bright to medium indirect light.

Place in pot with drainage hole. Keep soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Water just before the surface of the soil dries out. Can be sensitive to mineral salts in tap water, distilled water is best if possible.

Extra humidity may be needed to keep leaves looking their best. Brown, dried out leaves is usually a sign of too little water. Maranta's are part of the group of plants known as 'Prayer Plants' because their leaves fold upwards at night (or in low light) due to a process known as nyctinastic movement. Watch your plant towards the end of the day and you'll notice a shift from an open shape to a more upright shape!
